Ingersoll Rand Air Starter Accessories Catalog Section: Valves, Strainers, Mufflers, Regulators and Lubricators
The eighteen-page accessories section (pages J-1 to J-18) of an Ingersoll Rand engine starting systems catalog, for anyone specifying or replacing the control and air-supply parts around an air starter. It indexes every accessory by description and part number, then gives specifications, sizes, weights and dimension drawings for relay valves, solenoid and push button valves, strainers, mufflers, regulators, lubricators, splash deflectors, sealants, check and drain valves, gladhand couplings and pressure gauges.

Installing the NR-24-8 regulator (Overview)
- Fit a compressed air filter ahead of the regulator.
- Where demand cycles, place the regulator upstream of the cycling control valves.
- Use system piping the same size as the regulator ports and mount the regulator close to the device it feeds; any angle is acceptable.
- Seal male pipe threads only, keep sealant out of the regulator, and match air flow to the arrow on the body.
- Optionally fit an outlet gauge in a gauge port and plug any unused gauge ports.
- On relieving models, fit the M8006A muffler in the port marked EXH.

Adjusting the NR-24-8 regulator (Overview)
- With system pressure off, back the pilot adjusting knob out until the spring is unloaded.
- Turn on system pressure.
- Turn the knob clockwise until the outlet reaches the desired pressure.
- Always approach a new setting from below; when lowering, drop below the target first and come back up.
- Push the lockring down to lock the setting, or pull it up to release.
An outline only. Follow the full procedure, torque values and safety warnings in the document (from page 12).
Frequently Asked Questions
Which relay valve fits a 150BM or 150T air starter?
The SRV125 (1-1/4 in) is listed for 150BM, SS350G and 150T starters, with the SRV125T as the transportation version. SS800, ST600, ST700 and ST900 starters use the 1-1/2 in SRV150, or the SRV150SS for natural gas.
What is the difference between the SMB-618 and SMB-G618 push button valves?
The SMB-618 has a brass body and is for air only. The chrome-plated SMB-G618 is for marine, offshore and natural gas applications.
What strainer mesh does the Ingersoll Rand ST900 air strainer use?
A 300-mesh element reinforced on both sides by a 20-mesh stainless steel screen.
Which muffler fits an ST500 or 150T starter?
The 2 in ST500-674 muffler is listed for the 150T and ST500, and the ST500-A735 is the matching road splash deflector.
How much oil does an HDL2 or HDL3 one-shot lubricator dispense?
The HDL2 dispenses 1.3 cc and the HDL3 0.4 cc each time the starter engages, and they can draw oil from up to 4 feet away.
